Dear Patriots,
It is with great excitement, and huge amounts of pride that I announce the return of The Towne Cryer, now in an online format! After a hiatus since 2016 due to declining enrollment, budget challenges and COVID-19, our student newspaper is back, ready to inform, inspire, and amplify the voices of our student body.
As the newspaper advisor, my role is to support and guide our student journalists as they create content that matters to you. However, this is your paper—a platform for student expression, ideas, and concerns. We want your voices to be at the forefront. Those voices might take written form, or use new media as podcasts or video. Whatever form the news takes, we want to be there to share it.
If a story resonates with you, inspires a reaction, or sparks a new idea, I encourage you to write a letter to the editor.. Additionally, if you notice an important issue that hasn’t been covered, reach out! We are eager to hear from students who want to contribute or suggest story ideas.
This first letter from me is an introduction—and ideally, the last time you’ll hear directly from me in The Towne Cryer. The spotlight belongs to our student journalists, whose passion and creativity will drive this publication forward.
Thank you for reading, engaging, and supporting this exciting new chapter for The Towne Crier. Let’s make this a space where student voices thrive.
Sincerely,
Jennifer Owens Hill
Advisor, The Towne Cryer
